Travel

A small resort town set in the heart of California’s spectacular Eastern Sierra, Mammoth Lakes lies on the edge of one of the largest contiguous wilderness areas in the Lower 48 States, less than an hour’s drive from Yosemite National Park.

Driving times are roughly 5.5 hours from Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO/OAK) or Las Vegas (LAS), and 3 hours from Reno, Nevada (RNO).

Flights from farther afield will need to connect through LAX. Alaska Airlines offers daily flights to and from LAX until September 29. The Mammoth Lakes-Yosemite airport (MMH) is located 10 minutes from town. Shuttles are available for guests of Juniper Springs Lodge and other MMCS participants or faculty by prior arrangement.

Lodging

Lodging is available at a discounted rate for seminar participants and faculty at Mammoth Mountain’s Juniper Springs Resort, adjacent to the MMCS14 venue, Eagle Lodge.

Rates: $99 for a one-bedroom condo; $135 for a two-bedroom condo.

Cancel/Change Policy
You may cancel or change the reservation up to 2 full days in advance of arrival date with a $50.00 change/cancellation fee. Within 2 days of arrival all reservations are non-changeable, non-transferable and non refundable, unless other arrangements have been made.
A town occupancy tax of 13%, subject to change and 1% tourism assessment fee, will be added to the nightly rate of each room. A Resort Fee of $20.00 per night plus applicable tax will be applied to each room for each night; details of what this fee enables us to provide are in the Reservation Policy section.

Activities

There will be some free time on the afternoons of September 11 and 12th to hike, bike, fish, golf, paddle, or otherwise get out into the scenic High Sierra Nevada.
