Romania_19-150x150David A. Fields, MD – Secretary/Conference Chair

David is a general surgeon at Mammoth Hospital in Mammoth Lakes, California. Growing up in the Midwest, he spent time each summer in Colorado and lived in Germany for a year. Working for the National Health Service in rural Montana, he became interested in surgery. He did his general surgery training in Salt Lake City with a specialty in thoracic oncology. After a 2-year cardiothoracic fellowship in Pittsburgh he was recruited to Seattle to develop a minimally-invasive lung cancer program at a large tertiary care center. In 2012 he and his partner, Dr. Fru Bahiraei, took over the general surgery practice at Mammoth Lakes Hospital. “The opportunity to live in the mountains, be part of a small community, spend time with my children and to take part in international medical missions made Mammoth an ideal place for me,” says Dr. Koehler. He was a team leader on MMM’s surgical strike team to the central Philippines in the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.

mcconnell-150x150Matthew M. Pina – Treasurer

Matthew can be summed up in two words: action and results. Whether it’s bootstrapping a software company from 0 to $5 million in less than 3 years, qualifying for the Inc. 5,000 – fastest-growing privately held companies in the US or batting fifth and driving in runs for an adult league baseball team. The direct line from action to results comes from focusing on continual improvement – finding out what needs improvement, and prioritizing according to maximum impact. A family man, he is intimately involved with the various endeavors of his 5 kids (Little League Baseball, Skiing, FIRST Lego League, etc.) . And now he’ll be devoting his laser-like focus to helping MMM grow to help as many people around the world as possible.
